Description: I also posted a movie of this in the movie section, but wanted to show a high res render to, this being one of my most unique fractal find until this day.

KIFS fractal with added foldings and sphere inverts...  A Beer Cup

You do not see real fractal craniums every day...  afro

Thank you Dermis. Glad you like it!  afro A Beer Cup

And @Chris: I still don't understand how that technique would "fill in tissue layers" without altering the formula?

Thank you Bryan!

And thank you for the link Chris! Not sure if I can do "volumetric rendering" in Mandelbulb 3D, I could do some DE-fog...

FWIW, I used ImageJ to render the stack of images for the "alien" thing created by my software. IIRC, it was only 640 layers, and should be compatible with 3d volumetric printing.

https://imagej.nih.gov/ij/

IMVHO, its really fun to explore volumetrics. Every image stack in here:

http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=17491

was rendered by ImageJ.

You made a wonderful skeletal structure, now lets fill in the tissues. I wonder if my volumetric rendering with a stack of images and the alien being thing I found can be used to fill in tissue layers using your skull as a guide.

And very interesting images Chris, but very big... makes the page load slowly... could you change them to a couple of smaller images maybe?  afro

I posted a link to the image rather than embed it. The page should load much more quickly, sorry about that!  cry

BTW, do you have any knowledge about the caveats of printing 3d volumetric renderings?

Something like:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volumetric_printing

?

This is totally excellent work! It kind of eerily reminds me of the following creature I found by exploring a volumetric rendering of a reverse Julia set:
